The Gift of Identity – Who You Are Because of Jesus

Published December 22, 2025

So much of life is spent trying to answer one question: Who am I?
We search for identity in success, relationships, past experiences, and even our failures—but those answers never fully satisfy.

Christmas tells a different story. When Jesus came, He didn’t just bring salvation—He brought identity. In Him, we are given a new name, a new standing, and a new way of seeing ourselves. This season, we’re invited to discover who we truly are because of Christ.

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God.” — John 1:12

One of the greatest gifts of Christmas is not found under a tree—it’s found in Christ. Jesus didn’t just come to save us from sin; He came to restore our identity.

Through Him, we are no longer defined by our past, our mistakes, or the labels placed on us by others. In Christ, we are forgiven, chosen, adopted, and made new. Christmas marks the moment heaven declared, “You belong.”

Jesus gives us more than a second chance—He gives us a new name.

Reflect:
What false identity do you need to release so you can embrace who God says you are?

Respond (Prayer):
“Jesus, thank You for giving me a new identity. Help me live from who You say I am.”
